Internship Opportunities Open At State Department for Basic Education. Background & Job Description

The Ministry of Education in Kenya, through the State Department for Basic Education, is inviting qualified graduates to apply for a 12-month ICT internship beginning July 1, 2025. Interns will be deployed to Sub-County Education Offices to assist in implementing and supporting digital learning initiatives under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP).

Tasks

Interns will:

  • Support e-learning content aligned with school curricula
  • Assist teachers in using digital devices for instruction
  • Help implement and manage the Digital Literacy Programme
  • Innovate digital solutions for improved classroom learning
  • Train school staff in safe and ethical tech usage
  • Offer basic ICT maintenance and first-line tech support
  • Develop and help implement school ICT policies

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in ICT or Education (ICT specialization), or
  • Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education from a recognized institution

Experience

  • Must have graduated not earlier than 2020
  • Knowledge of networking, app development, cybersecurity, and ICT project management
  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and content creation tools

  • Duration: 12 months
  • Start Date: July 1, 2025
  • Stipend: KES 25,000/month (degree holders) | KES 15,000/month (diploma holders)
  • Applicants must be ready for full-time deployment at the Sub-County level
