Background & Program Description

The UNDP is a leading UN organization dedicated to fighting poverty, inequality, and climate change across 170 countries. The Serbia office is focused on supporting the country’s development goals and its path toward joining the European Union. The purpose of this internship program is to provide students and recent graduates with direct exposure to the daily working environment of a global development agency. This open call will create a pool of qualified candidates from which interns will be selected for various assignments throughout 2025, based on the specific needs of different projects. The fully funded UNDP internship is a competitive opportunity that complements academic studies with practical, real-world experience.

Tasks

• Provide research and analytical support for studies conducted within a project or portfolio.
• Assist with data collection and translation from national, regional, and international sources.
• Provide operational, logistical, and administrative support for online trainings, workshops, conferences, and other events.
• Contribute to communication and external relations activities for the UNDP Serbia office.
• Facilitate effective information management and provide executive support as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

• You must be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree program (Master’s or higher) or in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
• Alternatively, you can be a recent university graduate, provided you start the internship within one year of your graduation date.
• You can also be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program.

Experience

• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English is a mandatory requirement for this internship.
• Knowledge of the Serbian language is a valuable asset but not required.
• You should have strong computer literacy and excellent organizational skills for effective day-to-day operations.
• The ability to express ideas clearly and work both independently and collaboratively is essential.

Additional Information

This open call for the UNDP Serbia internship roster will remain active for three months, until October 15, 2025. Placement on the roster does not guarantee selection for an internship. The duration of the internship is typically between six weeks and six months. Interns receive a monthly stipend to help with expenses, but are responsible for their own medical insurance and travel costs. There is no expectation of employment with UNDP following the internship.
