Background & Program Description
The UNICEF Internship Programme is a short-term, structured engagement typically lasting between 6 and 26 weeks. It is designed to provide practical experience and support professional development. While many UNICEF internships are in-person at headquarters in New York or field offices, a growing number of roles are fully remote. These remote opportunities are project-based and can be found across various departments. Internships are offered throughout the year, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Financial Benefits
UNICEF provides a monthly stipend to its interns. The amount of the stipend varies based on the duty station and internal funding, but it can be up to USD $1,700 per month for positions in high-cost cities like New York, Geneva, and Copenhagen. In other locations, the stipend is 70% of the monthly salary of a GS level 3, step 1 staff member. In addition, UNICEF may offer a one-time lump sum to contribute to travel and visa costs if funding is available.
