Background & Job Description

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a leading German development agency, is offering a 6-month internship within its International Services (IS) Division. This division manages externally funded projects from major international donors, with this specific role supporting the Anglophone Africa Team. The team works on project acquisition and implementation across various thematic areas including rural development, energy, governance, education, health, infrastructure, and peace and security in countries like Ethiopia, Ghana, Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania.


Tasks

As an intern, you will:

  • Assist with project acquisition, particularly for EU-funded tenders.
  • Conduct market research for new project opportunities.
  • Support project implementation through coordination and documentation.
  • Prepare thematic research and background materials.
  • Provide internal communication and administrative support.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

Applicants should be enrolled in or recently graduated (within 6 months) from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in fields such as political science, international development, African studies, economics, or climate/agricultural sciences.

Experience

Candidates must have an excellent command of English; German or French proficiency is a strong asset. Strong organizational, writing, and research skills are essential, along with proficiency in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint). Previous experience abroad and/or in development cooperation is advantageous.

This exciting 6-month internship offers a monthly gross stipend of €2,205.04.
