Background & Job Description

UNICEF’s Public Partnerships Division is offering a six-month internship through its UN Partnerships Team, open to students and recent graduates. This opportunity allows interns to work on interagency UN coordination, global development strategy, and children’s rights advocacy. The internship can be completed remotely, in-person at the New York Headquarters, or in a hybrid format.

Interns will support UNICEF’s strategic engagement with key UN bodies such as ECOSOC, the CEB, and the UNSDG, while also contributing to reform tracking, policy summaries, and internal knowledge management.

Tasks

  • Analyze surveys and data from UN Development System
  • Draft policy summaries and meeting notes (e.g., ECOSOC, Executive Board)
  • Monitor UN 2.0 reform developments
  • Assist in drafting briefs, organizing partner meetings, and social media content
  • Update internal databases and support interagency knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Must be a recent graduate or enrolled in a graduate-level program in:
    • International Relations
    • Development Studies
    • Political Science
    • Or a related field

Experience & Skills

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of a second UN language is a plus)
  • Interest in international development and the UN system
