Background & Job Description
Anglo American is seeking a Specialist in Shipping Operations (Panamax) to manage post-fixture activities and voyage operations for their chartered bulk fleet. Based in London, this role supports Anglo American’s marketing and shipping unit, ensuring efficient, compliant, and sustainable freight services across global routes.
Tasks
- Operate time/voyage chartered vessels and oversee pre-stow plans.
- Coordinate Captain/Agent Instructions and bunker bookings.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure timely shipping updates.
- Issue and validate LOIs, invoices, and hire statements.
- Negotiate laytime calculations and close voyage accounts.
- Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, and shipping safety regulations.
- Collaborate with chartering, commodity, and third-party teams.
- Support sustainable, safe shipping practices.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Degree in Shipping, Economics, or similar preferred.
- ICS qualification is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in dry bulk commercial shipping operations.
- Knowledge of charter parties, freight markets, and port regulations.
- Familiarity with maritime compliance, IMO regulations, and Atlantic/Mediterranean trade routes.
- Strong prioritization skills under pressure.
